
To improve facial enrollment on facial recognition readers, these conditions should be met:
- Position face 50 to 80cm from device
- Use a clear white background
- Face the device directly with a neutral expression
- Head should not be tilted
- Do not wear any facial accessories or coverings such as glasses, mask etc.
- Hair should be away from eyes and eyebrows
- Eyes open with irises easily seen
- No more than one face in the capture area
- No other objects in the capture area
- Light should be evenly-distributed on the face (no shadows)
For a photo intended to be used as a template the following guidelines should be met in addition to the above:
There shouldn’t be less than 115 pixels between eyes, 200 or above is the recommended distance.
There shouldn’t be more than 10 degrees of horizontal or vertical angle (camera should be level with the subject’s eyes).
There should be no scaling of the image. Also ensure that the image is correctly oriented when uploading.
The image should be in BMP, JPG, or JPEG format.
Image dimensions should be 768 pixels wide by 1024 pixels high, with a file size of 80-100KB. For higher resolution cameras the dimensions can be 1728 pixels wide by 2304 pixels high, file size of 150-200KB.
