eSkan devices can be used for scanning driver licenses, with the scanned transactions being imported by Jarrison Time. This article looks at working with the Honeywell ScanPal EDA52.

In order to setup an eSkan device, the ExID software will be required. Please obtain this from your device supplier first. Jarrison Time will also need to be licensed correctly.
Once you have the EXID decoder setup package, you can run the executable file.
The below screen’s configuration settings should be used (besides directories).

Allow the following executables through firewall (Firewall > Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall):
Program Files x86 \ ExcellentID \ ExcellentID EXID Decoder Services \ eSkan.Service.exe
Program Files x86 \ ExcellentID \ ExcellentID EXID Decoder Services \ EXIDDecoder.exe

UDP port 7511 must also be open for the Honeywell device to communicate through to the server along with the TCP listening port 7509)
A 2-D, PDF417-format barcode needs to be generated, to assign the server IP address to the eSkan device. A static IP must be set on the server that the eSkan device connects to.
The following site can be used to generate a barcode from:
https://www.cognex.com/resources/interactive-tools/free-barcode-generator
Select the appropriate Barcode Type 2D PDF417
Enter the Data: 9902f8000udp[IPADDRESS]:7511.
e.g. If your server IP is 192.168.68.53, it will be 9902f8000udp192.168.68.53:7511.
Include the dot at the end of the string as well, it is not punctuation!
Click Generate Barcode

Scan the generated barcode with the reader to set the IP.
